  • St. Matthew School Tuition Support

    • Thank you for choosing to send your children to Catholic school! We understand that Catholic school tuition is a big investment for a family, and we are happy to be able to offer practicing Catholic families some tuition support through a parish grant. However, it is important to understand that receiving the parish grant is not automatic. Please see the Frequently Asked Questions below for more information!

    • What is a tuition grant?
      • Through the tuition grant, the parish invests in families committed to raising children who live their faith fully and authentically and who are helping our parish mission to worship, serve, and evangelize. Tuition grants help parents provide for the spiritual, social, and academic formation of children seeking a Catholic education by offsetting a portion of tuition costs. Grants are made possible through offertory Mass donations from parishioners, ongoing fundraising, and development efforts.

    • Do all St. Matthew families automatically get the grant?
      • The grant is only open to parishioners of St. Matthew Parish (although other parishes to which our school families belong may offer their parishioners some tuition assistance). Being a St. Matthew parishioner does not guarantee that a family will receive a grant, however. Only those families who are participating members of the parish are eligible for the grant.

To be a participating member means all of the following:

        1. Worshiping at Mass every Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation.
        2. Being offically registered at St. Matthew Parish. (If you're not registered, you can register here.)
        3. Having a personal and family prayer life.
        4. Listening to, reflecting on, and living the Gospel.
        5. Participating in parish and school activities or ministries. (Not sure how to get involved? Click here.)
        6. Supporting the parish through the offertory collection.
    • What if I just want to use St. Matthew as a private school?
      • We know that we have some school families who are non-Catholic or who are not practicing the Catholic faith. Those families are welcome at St. Matthew School, but they are not eligible for the parish grant and should expect to pay full tuition.

    • If I sign the part of the tuition agreement saying I will be a participating parishioner, will I definitely get the grant?
      • Not necessarily. We ask you to sign that part of the tuition agreement to indicate that you understand what it means to be a participating parishioner and so that you can discuss with your family how you be involved in your faith. Families who sign this portion but do not demonstrate participation in parish life will not receive the grant.

    • The grant doesn't cover all the assistance my family needs. Are there other options?
      • Absolutely. We want a Catholic education to be accessible to as many people as possible. We have additional tuition support available thanks to private donations to the church and school. Please contact the principal at the school to discuss options.

    • I didn't get the grant, but I feel like I should have. Who can I contact?
      • We understand that some families who do not receive the grant might have extenuating circumstances about which the parish and school are not aware. If you did not receive the tuition grant and would like to discuss your situation further, please contact the parish Business Manager, Leo Grimes, at [email protected] or (614) 471-0212.

Our Mission: As a community of believers who know, love, and serve Jesus Christ, we celebrate the sacramental life of the Church, proclaim the saving message of Christ, and share the love of the Lord, especially with the least, the poor, and the suffering.

Our Vision: To make disciples who love Jesus and have a passion to worship, serve, and evangelize.
