RCIA for Children is for those entering 3-8th grade who have not been baptized or who have been baptized in a non-Catholic Christian faith. Students learn about the Catholic faith through St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic School or the Parish School of Religion (PSR). Preparation for the reception of the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and 1st Eucharist is held monthly on Sunday evenings September-March, 6-7:30 pm, during regular PSR classes.
In accordance with RCIA guidelines, students in the RCIA for Children program will participate in the same rites as the adults throughout their period of formation and will be baptized (if necessary), confirmed, and receive 1st Eucharist at the Easter Vigil, not with their classmates.
A meeting with the PSR Coordinator and the Coordinator of RCIA is necessary to ensure proper placement and instruction for each child.
