The Sunday after the election, Deacon Chris Walsh preached about how our call is to support women considering abortion so that they know they really do have a choice to keep their child. He reached out to the Women's Care Center, who passed on the following ways we can help the women they serve.

One of the more unusual conversion stories of a Planned Parenthood employee is Matt Lorens. After getting a college degree and serving 8 years in the military he took a job as a graphic designer and website programmer at Planned Parenthood corporate in New Year. Raised Catholic, his faith-life consisted of going to Mass on Sunday. He spent the next 10 years working at Planned Parenthood never giving much thought to what they actually did in their clinics. But when his wife gave birth to a child with cerebral palsy, and a co-worker asked Lorens why he didn’t abort the baby when they knew he had a disability before birth? The question surprised Lorens and got him to seriously consider what kind of an employer he was working for and their primary “business”. Since it would be difficult to find another job that paid so well, Lorens spent the next year rationalizing that Planned Parenthood offered many other services to women besides abortions.
One night, while reading a Catholic book, the light of God broke through to his conscience and he wept at how far he had strayed from God by working at Planned Parenthood. This profound experience caused him to quit his job and start praying the rosary daily. He eventually started his own online company designing and producing custom holy cards, rosaries, framed pictures, and other religious items (Trade Catholic Art). This store has a 5-star rating and thousands of customers worldwide. He learned how to trust in God for all aspects of his life, including financial stability. He now applies his graphic design skills to evangelizing the world through Catholic art, to give people a way to connect with Jesus and Mary through beauty. He still finds it incredible how God’s grace pulled him out of the darkness of Planned Parenthood and “unplugged him from the Matrix”. His story is a glimpse into the miracles God performs when we pray for the conversion of those involved in the abortion industry.

Our Pro-Life Group meets on the first Thursday of of the month at 7 pm in the Adoration Chapel for a Pro-Life Holy Hour and to pray the Pro-Life Rosary, which is a beautiful way to pray for the unborn children and all who are affected by abortion. It is often prayed on a five decade rosary with different colored beads for different intentions, but any colored rosary will work. All are welcome to join us in person or at home.
