Cheerleading

Grades 4-8
Student must be enrolled in one of the following:
– St. Matthew School
– St. Matthew PSR classes
– School of the Resurrection PSR classes
– Other Columbus Diocese programs are eligible under certain circumstances
** Students may participate in St. Matthew Soccer with no conflicts with Cheerleading. Participating in Volleyball or Cross Country at the same time as Cheer may have practice or game conflicts, but can be worked out with the coach. **

$60 per athlete during early registration
$70 through the remainder of registration

Registration is May 1 through July 31.

Cheerleading squads consist of 6 or more girls. Depending on the number of athletes registered, grades may be combined within the school or with other parish schools in order to form a team.

Practices are scheduled 2 times per week. Since all our coaches are volunteers, we try to accommodate the coaches’ work schedules as best we can. Practice times can begin as early as 2:30 (after school), and/or weekends. Duration is usually 90 minutes. Once the season starts, we may only practice once per week. A final practice schedule will be determined the 2nd or 3rd week of August. Practices are held in the St. Matthew Father Noble Center (large gym) or when weather permits, outside.

Cheer uniforms will be provided by St. Matthew. These will be distributed at the first practice along with the Cheerleading handbook and further information about the season.

Football games are held Saturdays or Sunday afternoons. Games begin in September, and the final schedule is released a few days before the first game.

Games will be played at a field/school within the diocese, and each week the location is usually at a different location.
